Hi All
I believe Armidale Regional Council (ARC) has got its priorities wrong—committing to a $21 million recreational project with decades of ongoing costs, and extremely questionable community support. In the meantime, critical needs such as water security remain and the rail corridor could be lost permanently before alternatives are properly considered.
I prepared this petition as I want to support the individuals and groups already working hard to stop it. We share the same objective, and by working together, we can reach more people, build stronger numbers and increase visibility — ultimately improving our chances of stopping the rail trail.

Armidale Regional Council is expected to progress the rail trail at its meeting on 26-aug-2026 (15 days time from today). We have very little time to demonstrate the strength of local opposition.
Our goal is to obtain 1,500–2,000 signatures from people living within the Armidale Regional Council Local Government Area by 18-aug-2026, when we hope to have the petition included in the Armidale Regional Council meeting papers.

The 18-aug-2026 target is only the first step. We aim to continue building the petition to 10,000+ signatures to demonstrate sustained and substantial local and stakeholder opposition when the matter progresses to the NSW Government.
